Dr. Mehmet Kocaoglu was born in Istanbul in 1959. He completed his middle and high school education at the Istanbul High School for Boys in 1977. Next, he studied at the Faculty of Medicine from which he graduated in 1983. Dr. Kocaoglu stayed at the Faculty of Medicine for his residency between 1986-1992 and held the position of senior research fellow there until 1996 when he became an assistant professor of orthopedics and traumatology.

In 1993, Dr. Kocaoglu traveled to Russia for further study at the Kurgan Ilizarov Institute. In 1997, he moved to the USA for a fellowship with Dr. Paley of Baltimore, MD. He returned to Turkey after his time in Amercia and became of full professor at the Faculty of Medicine in 2002. He continued to be a member of the faculty through November of 2011 when he retired. He still is chief of the orthopedic and traumatology dept. of Memorial Hospital, Istanbul-Turkey.

Dr. Kocaoglu organized many national and international training courses and congresses and he was lecturer on many meetings about Ilizarov external fixation techniques. He has published more than 50 international and national scientific articles about Ilizarov surgery.

Dr. Marangoz graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey in 2000. He completed his residency training in Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the same faculty in 2005. He worked as an attending pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology between 2009 and 2014. He was awarded EFORT Travelling Fellowship at his final year of orthopaedic residency.

He completed a Clinical Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics at New York University – Hospital for Joint Diseases, Center for Children, New York, USA between 2006 and 2007. He completed another Clinical Fellowship in Limb Lengthening and Deformity Correction (Limb Reconstruction Surgery) at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics, The International Center for Limb Lengthening between 2007 and 2008. He was awarded European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society Travelling Fellowship in September 2014. He received his Associate Professor degree in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in November 2012. He completed European Board certification exams, and received the title and diploma of the Fellow of the European Board of Orthopeadics and Traumatology in 2015.

Dr. Marangoz has served two years as an Executive Board Member of the Turkish ASAMI Association. He has been working at Acibadem Healthcare Group, Istanbul, Turkey since 2017. He was appointed as Professor of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at Acibadem MAA University, School of Medicine in 2019. His areas of interest are pediatric orthopaedics, limb lengthening and limb deformity correction in children and adults.
